Investing in ourselves pays off

Investing in your society and in your employer is something Claudio Brun del Re, director of Physical Resources and chief architect at the University of Ottawa, takes seriously. As he tackles a new role this year as co-chair of the Campus Campaign, he intends to share his commitment to the University with fellow employees.

“We’re in the midst of challenging economic times,” says Brun del Re. “There’s a need to invest ourselves in the institutions that we care for. We have the means to ensure the University’s success and therefore its employees’ success.”

Brun del Re has been with uOttawa for 18 years and has been giving to the University for as long as he can remember. His donations, made through payroll deductions he says are easy and convenient, are open, meaning they’re used at the discretion of the University. But donors can also decide to apply their gifts to faculty projects for the Campus Campaign, allow them to support specific areas and witness how their dollars are helping.

As co-chair of the Campus Campaign, Brun del Re is committed to strengthening the culture of giving among staff and intends to “walk the talk” and lead by example, demonstrating his personal commitment to the University.
